A Real Moment From the Fitting Room.

A mom came into the store the other day with her 14-year-old son.

They were shopping for a suit.

She shared upfront that she had been looking elsewhere for something “nicer.” In her mind, Mofi felt more like a place for little kids not for a teenager.

But her son wanted to be here.

He had shopped here before. He remembered how it felt to walk into a store and actually find clothes that fit his body. Clothes that made him feel comfortable. Confident. Seen.

He tried on a few suits. And he was happy with them.

His mom wasn’t.

With each option, she pointed out a problem. Something wasn’t good enough. Something wasn’t quite right. Even though he liked how he looked and how he felt, the feedback kept coming.

You could see the shift. His excitement faded. His frustration grew. Eventually, he stopped trying. He took the suit off, quietly, and they left without buying anything.

And it stayed with me.

I’m still thinking about it, and I’d really love to hear how other moms see moments like this.
